self fulfilling confidence

self taught Networking lesson #1

I had a very positive response to my first post to the LinkedInnovators group, and I think that I had understood something new (to me)

I know that confidence is a critical factor in succesful business dealings. I can now see a secondary benefit to Networking in building confidence. If you are used to having intelligent and sharing conversations with reasonably forward looking people on a regular basis, and if you feel that other succesful business folk are your peers, then you are more likely to enter any new conversations or relationships from a position of power. I don’t mean “ability to overcome the oppostition”, simply that a confident approach will enable you to get the most pleasure, value and progress out of any business dealings.

I suspect that an enthusiastic, positive tone can help this, but I still remain wary of overselling ones self, and of gushing positivity that borders on glib sychophancy.

  1. Yes, Arthur, I agree, confidence is a critical factor in successful business dealing, and if I may extend that thought, a critical factor in communication itself.

Intelligent and sharing conversations are the essence of progress. In this new world of global communications on a personal level, confidence and intellegence, and the successful and thoughtful delivery of relevant communications create a path for business and social progess.

I reiterate our welcome to you from LinkedInnovators, and a very glad to see you posting about your positive experiences in our discussions.

    Best,

  2. Thanks, Jon, for re-enforcing this. You have also prompted me now to think about this more, and I am writing a new post with the resulting new ideas.

  3. […] A comment by Jonathan Meath to an “old” post of mine (two weeks ago is ancient history for this blog! ) has made me think more about the confidence and positivity. […]
