Trackbacks and Pingbacks – easier than you realise

Filed under: Social Media — Arthur M. Gallagher @ 11:20 am

Via a Wikipedia link, I found an article on RadicalBright about Trackbacks and Pingbacks. They had been a mystery to me, but the article gives a clear explanation and help with testing them out.

I guess I really should learn more about the WordPress interface, because all I needed to do was paste his Trackback URI into the box under where I write this stuff. Then on the side there is an expandable box called Discussion that has allow pings ticked, so I guess I have been doing pingbacks all along. Its a shame that the WordPress Discussion Options page doesn’t add the term Pingback in its option Attempt to notify any Weblogs linked to from the article (slows down posting.) but I suppose I only have myself to blame if I don’t learn to use these tools better.
